Professor Bøhren’s primary interest is corporate finance, corporate governance, and the philosophy of science. His major research efforts have been in capital budgeting, valuation effects of taxation, new equity offerings, and corporate governance. His research is published in outlets like the Journal of Financial Economics, European Finance Review, Journal of Banking and Finance, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Economics Letters, Decision Sciences, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Economic Psychology, and Energy Economics. Øyvind Bøhren’s current research focus is on corporate governance, where most of his projects are linked to a publicly funded research program where he is also a co-director (http://finance.bi.no/~governance).

            Before joining BI in 1982, he served on the faculty of the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. Bøhren spent one year as visiting faculty at the University of Washington, one year at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and has worked for shorter periods with a consulting firm in corporate strategy and with an investment bank.

Øyvind Bøhren has co-authored two recent textbooks in corporate finance. His current consulting is on minority freeze-outs in listed firms and the redesign of ownership and organizational structures in large, private family firms. He has recently served as an expert witness in a corporate governance case at the Norwegian Supreme Court.
